Our Little Slugger

J is still loving his baseball practice. I know I'm a little biased, but I think he wears it well.

Waiting for Pil

M loves his Bop (the name he gave to his special blankie...also known as Boppy at times). He loves his "Pil" and "New Pil" (his special pillow and the pillow in waiting for when the 1st one moves on to it's final resting place). He loves them almost as much as he loves Bop. It is always traumatic on the day these guys have to be washed. Now that they are old and tattered the laundering takes even longer than it did before. We kind of have to do it in phases, so he is never without one of these three items. They are at the stage where each must be hand-washed and air dried. It can seem to take forever according to M. Here he is waiting patiently for the original "Pil" to emerge from the no motion cycle of the dryer...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Three great stories from three great guys:

1. Tonight as we were having dinner. K started speaking in a whole new language. I think we owe credit to his amazing first grade teacher. She has transformed him into a child who is eager to learn and enjoys every second of it...apparently even the most mundane parts of using the English language. The story went something like this: "D-a-d-d-y (finger space) t-h-a-n-k (finger space) y-0-u (finger space) f-0-r (finger space) t-h-e (finger space) p-i-g-s-i-n-t-h-e (finger space) b-l-a-k -n-t ...no, no, no change the k to a t." I guess we can call this 1st gradese.

2. J is happy as ever and thrilled about beginning t-ball. He had his first practice on Sunday afternoon. When we asked him about the practice and what he enjoyed the most, he replied, "All of it!" I hope his excitement continues, as we have a ridiculous amount of time on the field this spring.

3. M keeps impressing us with his verbal skills. Last weekend, he kind of scared us with a weird regression. He started using "my" in place of "I." For example, "My wants that." Yikes! It took us a couple of days to realize he is referring to himself in an unusual way. "My" is short for Meyer, as he sometimes gets out the whole thing. I would say it is still not ideal, but I will settle for a self-proclaimed nickname. Another funny statement he has started using is "don't need it." He uses this one to let Nanny know he doesn't want his diaper changed. Even when we all know he needs it, his response is the same.

Tokyo Steakhouse

Yesterday was K's real birthday. We went to Tokyo Steakhouse for some okay food and awesome entertainment for our little guys. M was deathly afraid of the large fire that was lit in the middle of our dining table. He seemed amused by other tables with the same situation. Our table was a little too close for comfort. J and K loved every second. They giggled and smiled the entire time and almost inhaled their food. M was a fan of the food (only the preparation was in question).

I don't know, but I've been told...

K chose to have an army party to celebrate his 7th birthday. As requested, his guests came decked out in camouflage. I think they had a great time - especially one dad that I know.

The troops had a definite favorite activity - "bombs away." They rode down the zip line with a grenade water balloon. They were aiming for a hula hoop target. It was fun to watch!

The best part for the adults can't be expressed with my words...

Sending an Email

Last week, as I was cooking dinner, I heard J and M playing in the living room. J had an old cell phone and called out to me that he was going to send an email to Susan. "Do you know who Susan is?" I smiled and said that I did. He told his younger brother what he planned to do. "M, you don't know Susan. Do you?" M said, "No!" J replied, "It's Mer's grown up name. I'm going to send her an email." They both giggled and went on with their play time. I love being able to listen in on conversations like these.
