Tokyo Steakhouse
Yesterday was K's real birthday. We went to Tokyo Steakhouse for some okay food and awesome entertainment for our little guys. M was deathly afraid of the large fire that was lit in the middle of our dining table. He seemed amused by other tables with the same situation. Our table was a little too close for comfort. J and K loved every second. They giggled and smiled the entire time and almost inhaled their food. M was a fan of the food (only the preparation was in question).
I don't know, but I've been told...
K chose to have an army party to celebrate his 7th birthday. As requested, his guests came decked out in camouflage. I think they had a great time - especially one dad that I know.
The troops had a definite favorite activity - "bombs away." They rode down the zip line with a grenade water balloon. They were aiming for a hula hoop target. It was fun to watch!
The best part for the adults can't be expressed with my words...

Sending an Email
Last week, as I was cooking dinner, I heard J and M playing in the living room. J had an old cell phone and called out to me that he was going to send an email to Susan. "Do you know who Susan is?" I smiled and said that I did. He told his younger brother what he planned to do. "M, you don't know Susan. Do you?" M said, "No!" J replied, "It's Mer's grown up name. I'm going to send her an email." They both giggled and went on with their play time. I love being able to listen in on conversations like these.

K's Basketball Debut
Today was K's very first basketball game. He is definitely still in the processing mode. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone walk the entire game until today. That said, we must acknowledge that the child is a thinker. He has to take it all in before making a move. He ended the game with a smile on his face. We couldn't be happier about that!
Louisiana Christmas
This year we spent the bulk of our Christmas holiday in Louisiana. Our children have become quite accustomed to life in the country and really seem to enjoy spending as much time in the great outdoors as they possibly can. On this trip, they were able to make guns from scratch with Pop's assistance. They also made wooden robots (to be painted at a later date) and helped Dad build a manger for Mer.
We were relieved to see that Santa could still find us at Mer and Pop's house. It might have been the 5 notes we left for him or maybe even the reindeer food we sprinkled on the lawn. I guess it also could have been Zeke, our resident elf, tipping him off. Whatever the reason, we were glad it worked out.
We truly enjoyed all of the time we were able to spend with family. We don't get to see them
often enough, but when we do, we sure make the best of it! The pictures tell the story...
Polar Express
On December 20, we were all scheduled to go on a Polar Express train ride with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and hot chocolate. As luck would have it, the virus came my way on that very day (eventually none of us were spared). I'm glad the older boys were able to go and that J was well enough to bring them. It looks like they had a wonderful time!
