Find a Quarter, Pick It Up...
JC enjoyed swim team this summer. He learned so much each day. It was really fun to watch. On this particular day, he found a quarter in the bottom of the pool. Love that smile!
Camp Longhorn - Year 2
We took lots of pictures of K the day before camp and the morning before we took him to the bus. You cherish every moment in the days before your baby leaves you for 21 days. We were able to capture some fun moments with our cousins and brothers. Mighty was a little more worried about Boppy than about giving his brother a proper send off.
Our "bus time" this year was much easier than the previous year. The second K saw his friends, we were history. His actual "camp time" proved to work exactly the same way. He was happy to connect with old friends, his letters were upbeat and happy, and the photos we saw on the camp website made us smile. Attawaytogo, K!

Road Trip
We finally made the trip to Brenham to visit the Bluebell Creamery. It was really neat to see the factory floor, especially the assembly of ice cream sandwiches. The tour ends with a free scoop of Bluebell ice cream in the parlor and gift shop area. If you ask our boys, they will say the ice cream definitely tastes better when you are sitting inside the creamery.
Quarry Splash Pad
We discovered the coolest new county park...the Quarry Splash Pad. It only costs $1 per person and is sure to provide hours of fun. The boys enjoyed the water canons, sprinklers, and a natural rock slide. The down side is that it was pretty crowded at times. We learned a few life lessons while we were there.
Art Student of the Month
Our very own JC was named "Art Student of the Month" for July! This is his art bio:
I am 7 years old and I started art lessons with Mr. Joe when I was barely 5. My mom and dad say that I have loved art for as long as they can remember. My favorite kind of art is painting. I especially enjoy drawing and painting animals. When I grow up, I want to be an architect. I will do other kinds of art as a hobby.
We hope he knows that he is our favorite art student every day of the year. We are so very proud of his creativity and growth. Attaway, JC!
July 4th Pancake Breakfast
When we lived in Cat Hollow, we used to always attend the Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast at the local fire station. Several things were always a guarantee: we would have to wait in a very long line, we would sweat buckets, and the pancakes would be good. Four years later the same things held true, except we learned something new. If you go later in the morning, you don't have to wait in line.
