Happy Father's Day
We honored J this year with a new cast iron griddle for the grill (kind of sounds like a tongue twister) and these yummy grilling cupcakes. What more could a dad ask for?

CLH Tree Ceremony
On June 18, Mer and Pop were honored for their many years of dedication and loyalty to Camp Longhorn. They were allowed to choose a tree on the camp grounds to serve as symbol of their long-standing relationship with CLH. Mer chose a tree close to the Green Bean where her children used to play. It was the perfect tree, as you will see, because it has two major branches (one for Mer and one for Pop).
We were all invited to attend the "tree ceremony." It was a fantastic day and a wonderful weekend with family - something we don't get to enjoy often enough.

Summer Swim Team
K was a little nervous about swimming in the lake at camp this year. I think there was just something about water without a clear ending that bothered him...can't say that I blame him. We finally convinced him to try a summer recreational swim team with some of his friends. We were hoping it would ease his fears and create confidence in himself as a swimmer.
Done! He has been at camp for 3 weeks now and has had absolutely no hesitations about the lake. He even completed his first "Mile Swim" yesterday. Attawaytogo, K!

Swimming Lessons
J and Mighty both had swimming lessons this spring. Both boys advanced by leaps and bounds. J has been kind of stalled out, for lack of a better term, for about 2 years now. He completed Nitro 1 and has now begun Nitro 2. Woo hoo! Mighty had good, bad, and embarrassing days. In the end, he loves going under the water and will actually "swim" from one parent to the other underwater.
All in all, we had a great experience with swimming lessons this year!

Mommy Love
As a mother of 3 boys, the open signs of appreciation do not come around every day. These are just some of the mementos from the last year that touched my heart in a special way. In our house we call this "mommy love."

K made this for me in the spring. I was not feeling well. I came home from work and excused myself from all motherly duties and went to bed (this NEVER happens, so I think he was a little worried). He came in with the word love spelled out with wiki sticks.

For Christmas this year, J made this for me. It is a dinosaur TV. Don't be mistaken if you receive a gift like this...it is not really for you. I got to borrow it for a short while before he reclaimed it for a new project.

This one is a rock that J made for both mom and dad. He drew a J, B, and D to symbolize all of our initials and added a heart. We were told that we need to take turns letting the rock live on our bedside tables. So far we get to keep this one!
