We tried flag football this winter. K loved playing and loved having his dad as the coach. It was fun to watch the boys improve every week. I'm hoping they give it another try next year, as I think the boys (and coaches) figured out the way it's supposed to work for the last two games.
J entertained himself by running lots of laps around the track during the games while Mighty stayed busy with my iphone, trying to keep up with J, and generally taking care of trash for our area.

Two Sports at Once
This is what happens when you try to do too many things at once. We only had a handful of pictures of J's basketball season...this is the best one, and we only have one picture of K's team. I guess the saving grace is that we were actually present at every game. We'll have to rely on our memories this year.

Pinewood Derby 2011
It was never a question of whether or not we would build Pinewood Derby cars this year. The question was whether or not we could actually be present for the race. Our year, in general, has been crazy busy and we have have been crazy to even attempt all of the events on our calendar. At this point, J and I agree that we should try to expose our children to different sports and activities. All of this to say, with a great deal of juggling, we were able to make it happen.
The boys had a great time watching the race and enjoying a few pastries with Dad. K even won a trophy for second place. He was super proud, as were we.

Art on Display
J has recently been in the spotlight for his art work. This rendition of "Starry Night" was displayed in the glass case in the main hallway of his school. His "Day of the Dead" mask was on display at the public library during the month of February.
Grandma Betty
One of the best parts about our visits to Louisiana is our time with Grandma Betty. The boys adore her. She has the most amazing fish pond, makes the best lemonade, and always has plenty of M&M's on hand. She teaches them about birds and kittens and has a neat cabinet full of toys that have stood the test of time.
We tried to capture a few generational photos on one of our visits to Grandma's house. The youngest generation didn't fare as well as the eldest.
And... of course, our trip wouldn't have been complete without a hug from Maw.

Christmas Fireworks
Fireworks for Christmas? This is another tradition we have adopted from the Wilhelmi family. I must admit that this one is kind of fun. When we are in Louisiana, Santa brings fireworks for the stockings of all the good boys and girls...well boys, as we have no girls. Maybe one day he'll bring fireworks to my niece.
